Viking & Elvin Princess Lord of the Rings Wedding

A Viking & Elvin Princess wedding I hear you ask?  Yep…!  and oh my goodness what a feast for your eyes Alex & Callum’s’ wedding was.  As a massive Lord of the Rings fan myself this wedding was never going to disappoint.  Never mind the torrential rain we had, you just never know what weather Middle Earth is going to chuck in your face after all… Alex & Callum’s big day was epic!  Truly fantastic and out of this world incredible.  They’re such a lovely couple too.  I met Alex a few years back when she answered an ad I posted needing a red head model for a shoot in London I was doing.  We hit it off back then and have stayed in touch ever since.  When she asked me to be her wedding photographer I literally leapt at the chance and I really really loved seeing her being walked up the aisle with her amazing Dad and tying the knot with her gorgeous Viking Callum.  I am not ashamed to admit I welled up quite a bit behind the lens!  I’m pleased I could hide behind all the beautiful greenery and pergola Alex’s parents had made and installed into the ceremony room in Southend Barns.  In fact they did an amazing job with all the décor.  They made it all and put it all together and completely transformed the barns, they looked simply stunning.

Alex did her own make up as she is a Beauty Therapist & Consultant herself – you can check out some of her work on her instagram page Cutie Red.  My lovely friend Charlotte of Polka dot Hair and Make up was on hand to make everyone else look gorgeous and also did the hair for the day and I have to say Alex’s braid was so beautiful.  So fitting for the look she was going for with the beautiful head piece and Elvin ears from Muse Suite on Etsy and her dream like Maggie Sottero dress.

Callum and his boys looked so dapper in their suits with the button holes Becci (Alex’s mum) had made and the day ran so smoothly thanks to Rob and his team from Field and Fork and their big golf umbrellas – I’m really going to miss working with them.  We also had the lovely Gary as Master of Ceremonies and DJ for the day and he did a fab job too.  Oh and I can’t start uploading the photos to this post yet without first mentioning Nic’s woodland cake creation from Nic’s Slice of Heaven.  Amazing!!

We did battle with the elements a little bit but the clouds cleared and the sun came out long enough in the evening for us to sneak out in the lane behind the barn by the field for a few gorgeous couples portraits and I’m so pleased we did as they’re some of my favourite photos ever…

Tithe Barn Wedding ~ Hampshire ~ Andy & Emma say I DO!

The Tithe Barn in Ditcham near Petersfield is one of the most beautiful venues I know.  Vast ceilings, beautiful beams, so much space for all your guests and gorgeous grounds… what more could you want!  Emma & Andy were married in St Mary’s Church on Hayling Island before heading to the barn to celebrate with all their friends and family.

We started the day at Emma’s parent’s home with their fab hairdresser Beth Bramley and family friend Sylvi stepping in as last minute make up artist.  I loved Emma’s gorgeous Pronovias wedding gown and the bridesmaids’ Dessy Dresses were also absolutely stunning.

After an emotional first look from Emma’s dad everyone was picked up in the most luxurious and beautifully restored camper vans from Dream Day Campers and Emma & her dad travelled in style to church in a limo from Allenby Limousines.  I on the other hand hot footed it there in my old land rover 😛  and made it in time to capture the boys fanning each other down in the heat!!

After a lovely ceremony and a lot of confetti in a very confined space outside the lychgate (thank heavens for my wide angle lens!) we all made our way to Tithe Barn for ice creams from Pinks Ice Cream Vans and plenty of pimms and delicious canapés from Vanilla Catering plus lots of giggles and laughter of course courtesy of Emma & Andy’s family and friends!

I loved the décor in the barn on the tables – the beach hut boxes by Lindleywood were fantastic and all the amazing flowers by Elise at Florescense were truly a work of art in the tallest of vases!  Oh and the cake by Valerie Heritage who was one of Emma’s secondary school teachers was absolutely AMAZING!  So much detail…. just stunning!  I love anything to do with the beach and seaside so this cake was right up my street/promenade!

I really enjoyed being a part of Emma & Andy’s big day.  They booked me about 2 years ago after I photographed one of Emma’s best friends weddings and we hit it off straight away in the pub … we continued our giggles on the day and I really really hope you like this sneak peek guys…. many congratulations again!

And if anyone else likes what they see and would like me to photograph their big day too then please get in touch as my diary is filling up for 2019 already!

Southend Barns ~ Sunset Wedding

Barn weddings are one of my favourite to photograph and Southend Barns is a beautiful wedding & events venue nestled in the countryside near Chichester.  It’s also just recently opened it’s very own outdoor ceremony area which I can’t wait to photograph a wedding in.  We stayed indoors for Lucy & Jamie’s wedding there the other weekend as Jamie was singing to Lucy as she walked in with her Uncle up the aisle – and he’d already tested the acoustics!  I can assure you there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.  It was such an emotional and beautiful moment to witness and although Jamie was super nervous he was pitch perfect and sounded absolutely amazing.  He was followed by music from Chapel Hill Duo who were also fantastic.

Lucy looked gorgeous in her beautiful tulle wedding gown, Charlotte Louise MUA did a great job making Lucy positively glow on her big day and Charlotte from Polka Dot Hair & Make up worked her magic as always with all the gorgeous hair dos.

Lucy’s stunning flowers were all lovingly put together by a family friend and the delicious cake was made by her Auntie… I love it when everyone comes together to help out on the big day.  Barn weddings don’t need much extra décor as they all have their own natural charm but Lucy & Jamie added some gorgeous extra touches and made it all look lovely and personal to them with the table names being places they’d visited together.   We were really blessed with the weather all day, it was stifling hot but we had the most unbelievable sunset.  In fact when we first went out for photos because I thought we had a nice sunset Lucy & Jamie followed me outside to the field behind Southend Barns for a couple of pics then about 1/2 an hour later the sky literally burst into flames whilst the fantastic Deloreans were playing their first set and I had to “drag” (!!) them back out with me for another photo – at the time I felt bad asking them again but it was seriously worth it.  I love the photo so much I’m starting the blog post off with it!  Congratulations again Lucy & Jamie and thank you so much for letting me be a part of your special day!

If you like what you see please get in touch to enquire about your big day!

Tournerbury Woods Estate Wedding ~ West Sussex Wedding Photographer

Tournerbury Woods Estate is a beautiful venue, truly one of my favourites and I’ve been lucky enough to shoot two gorgeous weddings there now.  It’s so rustic but charming with a mix of trees and woodlands and water and boats.  What more could you want?!  It also has a lovely little cottage on site for getting ready in, a huge marquee on the lawn plus an under cover gazebo for getting married in if it’s not such nice weather and a smaller little pergola for outdoor ceremonies.  I went to visit Tournerbury Woods Estate with Luke and Rachael a year ago after they booked me online and watching their ideas and all their home-made decorations come together on the day was so exciting for me as well as them!  So much hard work and planning went into their wedding, the pressure was on to snap it right!

The girls started the day off at Rachael & Luke’s house and the fab Rachel from Flaunt your Face was there to doll them all up to perfection!  They all looked so beautiful, I loved the light lilac bridesmaid’s dresses too and Rachael’s wedding gown was truly something else and suited her so so well.  Oh and I have to mention their florist Bridal Flowers Direct as she incorporated some of Luke & Rachael’s own sweet peas from their garden into the beautiful bouquet!

Just after lunch I hot footed it over to Tournerbury to say hi to the boys and get some snaps of them greeting all the guests arriving and putting their button holes on.  I was in awe of all the amazing (and tempting!) home made cakes on display which Rachael didn’t get to see herself as they were taken away to be cut up for their picnic reception meal.  (Sooo glad I got a shot of that for her!)….

The weather was glorious so the ceremony was able to take place outside and what a beautiful service it was too – followed by plenty of drinks and ice creams from Chilly White traditional ice creams over looking the harbour.  Blooming perfect!

We had a few super relaxed group photos and then everyone sat down to a delicious wedding breakfast by Marmalade Hospitality then it was time to dance the night away, which was an easy task with the fantastic band The Meddlers on hand to play the tunes.

We did sneak out again for 5 minutes at the end so Luke and Rachael could have some down time and take it all in.  We had beautiful light overlooking the sea and then the trees in the lanes around Tournerbury Woods Estate added another gorgeous backdrop for a couple more snaps before it was back to the dance floor via a tray of tequila shots!

I had a wonderful time and I think their smiles say it all really.  Such a fab day!

Beautiful Back Garden Marquee Wedding ~ Kent Wedding Photography

A marquee wedding is one of my favourite to photograph and Laura & Theo’s in her parents’ back garden in the depths of the Kent countryside was no exception.  There’s something about going back to the house where you grew up to celebrate tying the knot with all your loved ones, it’s just so laid back and fun.  Laura & Theo went with Brooks Marquees and I loved how it was decorated with so many fab Chinese lanterns of all different sizes.  It looked fantastic and set on top of a hill with the most breathtaking of back drops too!  Now, I want to say we were lucky with the weather, you know how I always like to mention the weather right?  I’m British after all!  We were lucky, I mean it didn’t rain but it. was. sooooo. hot!  I did melt a little!!  Not that I minded though as it meant for a stunning sunset that evening across the fields behind the marquee.  Absolutely beautiful and worth every single melting moment!

The girls started the day getting ready at home.  Sophie from Master Cutters in Tenterden did a wonderful job with everyone’s locks and Laetitia from Makeup Angel made everyone look stunning too.  Laura chose a beautiful up-do and very natural make up and she looked absolutely gorgeous.  I loved the soft blue of the bridesmaids’ dresses too, they looked beautiful.

It was such a home made affair, Laura’s mum did all the catering and flowers with a little help from her aunt, sister and friends.  I must say the veggie tagine I had was delicious and the flowers looked so pretty, they did amazingly well.  The cake was fantastic too – so many tiers and it did well to withstand the heat and not topple over!

Whilst all the preparations were going on at home Theo was waiting patiently at the church for Laura and it was great to catch up with him just before the ceremony to wish him good luck.  (Not that he needed it, cool as a cucumber he was…!)  The service itself was beautiful, again, there’s something about being married by the vicar you’ve known for years and who’s friends with the family.  So special.

Then it was all back to the house for drinks, canapés, more drinks, photos, celebrations and a couple more drinks!

The happy couple were introduced into the marquee by a relative playing the Bagpipes, incredible…!  The meal and speeches rolled on into the night as we all stepped outside to watch the sunset … then it was into the little barn for dancing and a few more drinks!  The Hotrox Band totally smashed it as always and I don’t think there was a single moment that the floor wasn’t rammed with guests dancing their little socks off.

I had so much fun, it was such a fantastic day and I’m pretty sure Laura & Theo would agree.  Oh I almost forgot to mention how lovely it was working with Gary again from Short Film Company, I can’t wait to see the wedding video he made for them.

So without further ado… I give you Laura and Theo ❤
