I posted a sneak peek of Rachel & Steve’s big day a while ago and I’m only just getting round to writing a full blog post now because as usual I can’t narrow the photos down! I’m always so keen to show everyone a wide selection of what I get up to at weddings – the whole story telling thing! – and not just publish my “best shots”. Rachel & Steve’s wedding was sooo much fun! Edes house is such a beautiful building and the light in the ceremony room is amazing! I’m guessing it’s going to become quite popular now the registry office has closed down, anyone wanting a civil ceremony in Chichester should definitely have a look around and consider it. Great for group shots on the steps and by the old walls and trees around the back but I’m pleased we didn’t do all the group photos there as the light under the willow tree at Willow Barn was beautiful too (I won’t say why we delayed some groups shots but it involved an important mum and their car and a mix up of petrol and diesel and then not having time to get ready before the ceremony!!)… oops! Rachel & Steve went for a pink & teal theme and the marquee back at the barn looked fab – loving the clap / laugh boards that their gorgeous children held up during the speeches! Talking of speeches, Steve’s best man wowed everyone with a funny song he’d written about them and sang along to on his guitar – brilliant! They also had a fantastic magician who was very entertaining – Nick Stein. Then there was a bouncy castle and lots of toys for the children to play with in the grounds, a real fun family day and I always feel so honoured to be chosen to be a part of it. I love shooting in new venues too and finding places for the “Happy Couple” photos. When Rachel & Steve booked me we had it in mind to do some shots in Bishops Palace Gardens after their ceremony but when their day got closer they decided they preferred to just get to the reception and be with their friends and family so we had 10 minutes or so instead and I took some photos of them in the old orchard area (minding the squished apples under foot!) and by a shed door! But hey, backdrops don’t have to be glamerous to make fab photos, we love the retro, shabby chic look, right? and I can always add some hearts & bunting! Thankfully Rachel & Steve were chuffed to bits with the memories I created for them which always puts a big smile on my face! Thank you so much for chosing me guys, and many congratulations xx Photo overload time…. !
