I like to make hay even when the sun doesn’t shine! ~ Family photo shoot Arundel Park ~ West Sussex Photographer

It’s a long story this one but I love it so I’m going to have to share…. I have a little business sign outside my house that is mostly covered by the wisteria that grows up the wall and unbeknown to me our postman had jotted down my website and shown it to his wife to be!  So a couple of months back I had an enquiry from a lady saying they were planning a winter wedding for 2012 (!!) and would I like to be their photographer?  Then we got talking and she asked for a family photo shoot in the meantime for the two of them and their soon to be 2 year old daughter.  I mentioned my youngest would be 2 in December as well and it turns out they have the same birth date and we were on the same ward in hospital!!  Small world hey?!  So we got together on Sunday and as soon as we saw a quick gap in the clouds we rushed to Arundel Park and I took a few photos of the 3 of them before the heavens opened on us yet again!  What a gorgeous family and we had so much fun – my son had to come along as well so he could have a little play with their daughter afterwards, what a couple of cuties!  Here are some of my favourites….

Going from Strength to Strength according to Your Sussex Wedding Magazine!

I am so excited as there is a an aricle about lil’ old me in the Dec/Jan issue of  Your Sussex Wedding magazine.  The title is “Going from Strength to Strength” and it’s all about how I started up and caught the wedding bug and how pleased they are for me that the business is going well after such a short time.  Yipppeeee!

(Niki & Gary if you see this, you’re both famous now!)

Family Photos / Maternity Photo shoot ~ Arundel Park ~ West Sussex Photographer

Rosie wanted to book me to take all sorts of photos for her, some couple shots of herself & her partner for his birthday, some with her gorgeous son, some all together and some on her own capturing the beauty of pregnancy.  Oh & also a couple of her partner with his brother who was over from Canada!  I was honoured to do so as not only did they once work in multimedia so know all about lighting and picture taking themselves but Rosie is also a brilliant local artist and had a good idea in her mind of what they wanted.  Such a lovely family – the photo shoot was very relaxed and we all had a wonderful time, first at home capturing the more intimate moments then out and about in Arundel Park – I just love this place for Autumn shoots!  Rosie is having trouble chosing as we did spend a good couple of hours together and I took quite a few shots (oops!).  There is never any pressure or hurry from me for you to pick your prints though – there is no viewing session with a hard sales pitch, you can pick in your own time, sitting on your own sofa, from your own private online gallery…

Here are some of my favourites:

Those last three shots were special to Rosie as she has painted that scene before with the trees in the distance…

Gary & Niki ~ Arundel Town Hall and the George & Dragon Burpham ~ 24th Oct 09

Gary and Niki were pretty much the most laid back couple of the century!  They weren’t going to have a photographer at all because they really didn’t want any posed photos so when they found my website and I confirmed when we met that I prefer the natural candid photos anyway they booked me there and then!  They did request one or two family shots and of course the main group one but Niki assured me they didn’t feel I was intrusive at all and I thoroughly enjoyed the day – what a great bunch of friends and lovely families they have!

We started the morning at the Hilton in Walberton with the getting ready shots and with 8 bridesmaids it was a real hive of activity in Niki’s suite!  Then onto the Town Hall in Arundel in a wonderful 1950’s green bus from http://www.green-bus.co.uk/  The weather was awful, really windy and pouring with rain but we still managed a big group shot on the terrace after the ceremony.  It cleared up just as we all went off to the George & Dragon at the top of the hill at Burpham.  What a gorgeous intimate reception, the atmosphere was so cosy and warm and the food was out of this world delicious, you can visit their website here http://www.georgeanddragoninnburpham.com/   After this Gary and Niki had hired a fantastic marquee and the village hall for the evening do.  There was a dancing lesson for all the guests and a fantastic band playing and the first dance is one I’ll never forget – wow is all I can say!  Congratulations Gary and Niki and thank you for chosing me to photograph your very special day.  Here are some of my favourite photos (there could be quite a few!)….
