The other weekend I shot a fabulous bright and colourful wedding at Bartholomew Barn. Just as well it was bright and colourful as the day itself was abysmal. It rained non stop all day, literally from start to finish and I got drenched! But Rosey & Peter kept on smiling all day, the weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at all. Peter’s relatives and friends all came down from Scotland for their big day – where funnily enough the weather on the same day was glorious up there!
I started with the girls and the boys getting ready (separately!) at the Hilton, Avisford Park. Switching from one room to the other was fun; capturing the girls having their hair done and getting dolled up in one room and the boys getting kilted up in another down the corridor!
Then I followed the lads to the barns where we waited and waited and waited for the coach of guests to arrive. I think the coach got stuck or due to the rain couldn’t make it down a certain narrow road and had to turn round then possibly got lost… ! They got there in the nick of time though as Rosey made her way down the aisle. I think she may have even shed a little tear as she did… They read their own vows to each other and it was a lovely ceremony. It’s great the barns now has a license for marriages.
Then everyone was shipped outside under the two big umbrellas for a few drinks and canopés as the room was changed round for the wedding breakfast. Getting candid shots with shoulders and elbows and backs of heads all in the way and everyone in rather close proximity to say the least was tricky but I mingled in with everyone and had a right giggle getting the shots I did manage!
Rosey & Peter nipped out during the meal for a few couples shots – by then I don’t think we minded the rain at all or even noticed it, OK maybe we did a bit! After the cutting of the cheese and first dance we snuck outside again for a few twinkly light photos before I left them all to dance the night away. I never did get to find out what if anything is worn under a kilt!!
Nicki you have caught the joy of that wedding beautifully.
