Styled Photo Shoot ~ Dolly Takes a Trip to the Sea… {In collaboration with Ooh Mrs James}

I don’t even know where to begin describing what a fabulous time I had organising this styled photo shoot with Jackie of Ooh Mrs James Wedding Blog and Vintage Wedding Dress restorer.  We first met at a networking event a year or so ago and hit it off straight away, (how can you not, dressed up in 20’s gear in a fun photo booth?!)  Jackie is just so lovely and her passion for fashion and ideas for weddings are immense!  When she launched her restored vintage wedding dress  business I put the idea to her about doing a styled shoot as I’d never done one before and that was it – we were away!  We planned it around Jackie’s idea of “Dolly takes a trip to the Seaside” – vintage dresses but with a quirky edge and some rather incredible over the top make-up, fantastically applied by Naita Channer- one of the models and Jackie’s friend.  You can find her & message her on Facebook here (business website to follow soon).  We wanted to contact suppliers who needed photos for their websites and were building portfolios up and we were so lucky to have on board Claire of Rosey Posey Creations with her gorgeous head pieces and Hannah of BonnieBooButtons with her extraordinary button bouquets and button holes!  Then the lovely Fenella of Fenella’s Flowers sent me some of her beautiful bespoke fabric flowers to include and last but very much not least the fantastic Tess of Chatter Cakes came up with two brand new cake creations just for the shoot and brought along some truly scrumptious cupcakes for us all too!  Oh and I almost forgot to mention the lovely staff at Irregular Choice shoes (love love love) who allowed us to borrow a few pairs for the models which we treated like the crown jewels all day!  Wowsers – amazing stuff, how lucky were we?!  With all these fab creative folk on board we just needed the right location and the perfect weather to complete our little venture which is when I found Seabank!  Oh my goodness what a place!  RIGHT on the sea in Selsey – a restored vintage railway carriage.  Dolly was on her way to the seaside at last, vintage suitcase in hand…  But what would she find there?  Two rather handsome young lads dressed to begin with in waistcoats from A Suit that Fits then more casually in stripy seaside outfits Jackie sourced to help them woo the girls!  We seriously had so much fun.  I loved getting all the bits we needed – balloons, candy floss, sweeties, bubbles, various vintage props (a few I borrowed from Lucy Jayne Ltd) and seeing it all come together on the day was kind of just a little bit awesome!  OK – it was mega awesome!!!  We were all shattered by the end of it but I’d do it all again in a flash…. #missingseabanksomuch !!  Thank you to Jackie & Helina & Lila & Naita (the beautiful models) and Tarek & Andy the handsome chaps and to Tess & Hannah & Claire & Fenella & Irregular Choice and Catherine the owner of Seabank and Laura for coming along to 2nd shoot for me a bit… (her incredible photos are here!!)

So here goes… Dolly Takes a trip to the Sea… – and a few behind the scenes!

Please do take the time to check out all the amazing suppliers – like their pages on Facebook and give them a shout if you need more info on their products and prices as I know they’d be more than happy to help.  If you want to holiday in Seabank then do it!  It really is such an amazing place.  Thanks again everyone x

Petworth Church & DIY Barn Wedding ~ Cathy & Harry are wed…

You can’t beat a good DIY barn wedding in my book, and Cathy and Harry went all out to make theirs so beautiful and special.  Cathy spent months and months trawling car boots and trinket shops looking for all her gorgeous vintage crockery and brooches for the bouquets she made but it was worth every minute and penny spent – the barn and attached marquee looked stunning on their big day and the bouquets were so pretty!  They really are such a lovely couple too.  I was worried about writing a Blog post a couple of months after the wedding that the moment would have gone and I wouldn’t know what to write but seriously their day was packed with so many happy memories.  I remember first meeting with Cathy in a pub in Arundel and her showing me her big book of wedding ideas – I might have given off a little squeal of excitement and I still feel like that now as I look back over their pictures and remember the day.

Just prior to their wedding I had been poorly so I had lined up a super second shooter the lovely Irina of Pure You Photography – you can see some of her photos from the day here.  It was so lovely having Irina along to help me out – she got some great shots of the girls in the morning as I nipped down the road to the boys house.  Also some fab shots from the gallery in the church and her speech photos prompted me to buy the same lens she was using on the day – thanks for that Irina!  They were awesome!

Cathy got ready with the girls at the home where she grew up, then we had the absolute delight of driving right through the middle of Petworth park and grabbing some shots up on the hills there as her Dad is a gamekeeper for Petworth – wow!  Cathy and Harry were married in Petworth church and we managed to sneak a few shots of the ceremony literally shooting from the hip then checking to see if they were in focus or not!  Please check with your vicar if you’re having a church wedding that I am actually allowed to take photos – I’m worried I may go to hell now for breaking the rules with this vicar! 😉  Sorry…!

Then we all headed off to Harry’s boss’s barn on the farm where he works.  What an amazing job they had done decorating everything – it just looked beautiful.  We were so lucky it’s surrounded by lakes and rapeseed oil fields too so we got some fab shots.  Later in the day my friend Lucy of Lucy Jayne Vintage Caravans brought Pippa one of her caravans down for a few photos with the happy couple – what a treat!  The whole day was perfect from start to finish – the food was delicious too, the pub where Cathy works did the catering!  Everyone had such a giggle – it was great to catch up with Dave & Jo too a couple whose wedding I shot last year who I think may just have recommended me to Cathy and Harry – mwah!

All it leaves me to say is thank you sooo much to Cathy & Harry for having me along for the day to capture it all – and *drum roll*…  here are some / loads of my favourites…!

Bignor Park – Stunning Wedding Venue and fab backdrop for some pre wedding photos too… {Kiera & Dan}

Bignor Park is one seriously stunning wedding venue, I love it there.  Breathtaking views and gorgeous surroundings with a certain rustic charm.  I don’t think you can go wrong if you’re looking for an exclusive wedding venue to celebrate your big day at.  Please take a look at their website and Facebook Page.

I’m lucky enough to know Louise the charming lady who manages the bookings at Bignor Park and when I was struggling to find a nice park open in the evening for a pre wedding shoot the other week she offered the use of the grounds and myself and Kiera and Dan were blown away by how beautiful it is there.  We were so lucky with the light – the evening is often the best time of day for photos.

So without further a-do here are some photos of the gorgeous Kiera & Dan (who are actually married now, I’m a bit behind on blogging at the moment…!) followed by some photos just of Bignor Park taken a week or two earlier…

Fun Pre Wedding Shoot ~ Getting to know Beth & Luke a bit better….

A few weeks ago I met up with Beth and Luke for a fun pre wedding shoot in Arundel Park.  I love it up there, such a pretty spot for fun photos and not that many people know it’s there so it’s nice and quiet too if you think you might feel quite shy.  Beth & Luke thought they would be but they were soon giggling away together and (hopefully!) having some fun.  I love getting to know my couples before their big day.  Beth & Luke are getting married in July in Godalming and then onto Ramster Hall in what I’m sure will be a spectacular day indeed – can’t wait!!

Thanks for letting me share some photos from your fun pre wedding shoot guys!

ARUNDEL CATHEDRAL WEDDING & HAM MANOR GOLF CLUB RECEPTION {CHRIS & JOANNE ARE MARRIED}

An ARUNDEL CATHEDRAL Wedding & HAM MANOR GOLF CLUB Reception anyone?  Yes please!!  WOW what an amazing day.  We had glorious sunshine, lots of laughter and smiles, a wonderful service in Arundel Cathedral and a fantastic time was had by all later at the reception at Ham Manor Golf Club.  Chris & Jo are such a lovely couple, really easy going and friendly.  Spending time with them on their big day was such a pleasure.  Joanne’s family come from Wales so I loved the Gavin & Stacy table names and that it was daffodil season too:) Shame I couldn’t plonk the two of them right in the middle of a field of daffs but we found a lovely little pavilion building in the grounds of the golf club that did us nicely for some couples shots during the reception.  I loved everything about their big day – Jo looked truly stunning in her wedding dress and the little flower girls were such poppets!  Chris and his grooms-men looked extremely dapper too!

Here are some of my favourites from their very special day…

If you’re planning your wedding day for 2014 or beyond don’t hesitate to get in touch so we can start building a friendship – the key to better photos is a good rapport with your photographer.  Hope to hear from you soon!
