Beautiful Back Garden Marquee Wedding ~ Itchenor, West Sussex

I love a marquee wedding in a back garden and Catherine & Peter’s last summer was no exception.  It was a truly beautiful day, we were blessed with the most amazing sunshine all day!  I am also a massive fan of any nautical themed weddings or weddings that take place by the sea.  Surrounded by boats and water is ideal for me, I love it!  Catherine & Peter had a lovely ceremony in the local church at Birdham then went onto Catherine’s Uncles’s back garden for the marquee reception.  The day was incredibly laid back and so much fun.  I loved meeting all their friends and families and celebrating with them all.  I was devastated not to be able to shoot one of Catherine’s sister’s wedding later this year as I was already booked.  They had a delicious BBQ, a fabulous ceilidh band for the evening, Mum made the cake and the stunning flowers were by a family friend, Violet & Wolf.  We also had a fabulous sunset which I was able to quickly snap the happy couple in again before leaving them to dance the night away.

I love shooting back garden marquee weddings, the more laid back the better.  So please give me a shout if you’re getting married or know someone that is under canvas in their garden or a field!  I’d love to hear from you…

Welcome to the World ~ Unobtrusive Birth Photography

There is nothing more magical than photographing a birth.  Those intimate moments just before your little one enters this world are so intense and so full of absolute raw emotion. It’s impossible to take it all in though, you have to totally lose yourself in the moment and let yourself go to the wave of contractions.  You have to concentrate on your breathing, meditation and the inevitable pushing.

But… to have photos of it all afterwards, captured in an unobtrusive & natural way is just so so special and something I was honoured to have been able to do for my friend Chirssi and her husband Bradley just over a year ago.  Chrissi chose to have a home birth with a Doula present and of course her husband and then me with my camera!  I was nervous at first as I didn’t want to get in the way but they have since assured me it was actually a pleasure having me there and it was such an amazing experience for me too.  For me, it was the moment Bradley took Chrissi’s hands during the final few contractions and channelled all his energy into helping her push that was just incredible…

Birth is a true miracle and I must admit to shedding a few tears myself as Mum & Dad met their beautiful baby girl for the first time.

I had 3 caesarean sections which I like to refer to as c-births.  My babies were well and truly stuck, back to back, almost 13 lb and for one reason or another, although I knew what I needed to do, my babies and the midwives and doctors I was surrounded by had other ideas.  This does not mean to say they weren’t miracles too as they certainly were to us.  Witnessing Chrissi’s natural home birth helped heal some of the wounds I still carried about not being able to deliver my 3 naturally though.  I am honestly so grateful to have had this experience and been present for this amazing moment in their lives.

I would love to capture more births so if you like what you see and would like me present during the last stages of labour to capture your little one’s big day (or night – they pick the time, not us!) then please get in touch to discuss prices and plans.

For now I will leave you with these beautiful images and a little quote I found about birth by Virginia Di Orio… and this can refer to c-births too if you knew that’s how it had to be for your baby to be delivered safely into this world.  Much love to all mum’s and their birth stories… x

Just as a woman’s heart knows how and when to pump
her lungs to inhale
and her hand to pull back from fire
So she KNOWS when and how to give birth…

Lovely Winter Barn Wedding at the Tithe Barn Petersfield

I shot this gorgeous winter barn wedding a couple of weeks back at the Tithe Barn in Petersfield.  Such a beautiful sparkly wedding with lots of home made decor and DIY loveliness.  Ziz and Ben are such a lovely couple and I’m so chuffed they picked me to capture their day for them – well I hope they weren’t coerced too much by a previous couple of mine who recommended me to them!!  (Cheers Lucy & Scott, I’ll post that fiver off to you soon 😉 )

Luckily Ziz & Ben had access to the barn the day before to set it all up and they also had lots of friends and family on board helping them.  Holly one of the bridesmaids did all the flowers and table arrangements which all looked so beautiful and a very talented Auntie made the amazing cake and out of this world galactic doughnut wall.  Ziz’s hairdresser Philippa of Obsession Hair & Beauty in Emsworth created all the stunning up-dos and I’m glad Holly & I prised the beautifully crafted rings made by Thomas William Jewellery off Ziz & Ben’s fingers for a photo later in the day too!  (See, I didn’t do a runner with them!)

The whole day was fun and relaxed, just what Ziz and Ben wanted.  Wright Choice Catering did a fantastic job with all the food too and I can highly recommend them.  I loved being a part of their special day and have really enjoyed edited all the photos myself.  This is something I still insist on doing after 10 years of photographing weddings.  Nothing is out-sourced here as I need to know not just the emotions of the day but the atmosphere can be felt in my photos too.  Oh and I’m also very snap happy so when I manage deliver a wedding within 2 weeks it’s no mean feat I can tell you… and it’d cost a fortune to out-sourse the editing of that many photos anyway!

I hope you enjoy looking through the photos as much as I did taking them.  Please do get in contact with me if you’d like to know more about my pricing and packages for your wedding!

Worthing Wedding at the Dome ~ Nicki Feltham Photography

I love a Worthing wedding and last year I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous Worthing Dome Wedding at the beginning of September on a beautiful late summer’s day.  Becca & Luke were such a fun couple to work with and I just adored all their friends and family too.  We had an absolute blast.  Becca got ready at a fabulous Airbnb flat up the road and Charlotte from Polka Dot Hair & Make-up was there to make Becca & the girls look even more beautiful than they already do!  I just loved the rich tones of Becca’s lipstick, the deep red really worked and went well with her stunning 1920’s dress.

Marsha the Beetle also turned up to take everyone to the Dome where Luke & all the guests were eagerly waiting for the bride…

We were blessed all day with magnificent sunshine and the shots from my camera were only marginally more frequent than the shots ordered at the bar I think!  Ay ay ay tequila tequila!

I loved that we were allowed 10 minutes inside the cinema at the Dome for some quirky photos – then of course we had to take some opposite on the beach too.  Such a stunning backdrop for wedding photos and all the passers by agreed too!

Congratulations once again to this gorgeous and very lovely couple – can we do it all again!

If you are considering a Worthing wedding then please get in touch.

Scotland

I truly love Scotland, it must be one of my favourite places in the world.  Not that I’ve seen much of the world.  One day I would love to go travelling properly, pack a bag and just go where the road takes me… but for now my feet are firmly planted on the ground in sunny Bognor with my gorgeous kids and hubby and my photography business some call work!  These photos were taken back in October 2016 during the Autumn half term (I have finally got round to editing them!!).  We stayed in a quaint / quiet little village called Tomich in a lovely Airbnb cottage and from there we travelled out to Dog Falls, Plodda Falls and Loch beinn a’ mheadhoin (the sheer beauty of this loch brought tears to my eyes it is such a stunning place).  Oh, we treated ourselves to the tourist delights of Loch Ness too but we sadly didn’t see Nessy!  We walked a fair bit, visited old friends and generally relaxed and had some real quality family time (inclusive of all the usual arguing and moaning of course!  Apparently the Wifi wasn’t very strong in the Highlands and we broke down too – that was a fun 7 hours roadside!)  But on the plus side we found an old ruin up the road from our cottage called Guisachan House (and I do love an old ruin!), it’s the former estate & home of Lord & Lady Tweedmouth who were the first ever breeders of the Golden Retriever!

Anyway, where’s your favourite part of the world or must see place to visit in the UK?  Leave me a comment and let me know!  In the meantime here’s Scotland in all its Autumn beauty…
