Baby Freya ~ West Sussex Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to meet baby Freya and see her mum and dad again!  I shot their wedding and pre wedding shoot many moons ago and when couples come back to me with their bumps and babies I always feel so honoured.  Kym & Alex came to my house with Freya and we did the shoot right here in my lounge.  We chatted baby poo and breast feeding, how the birth went (very quickly indeed!).  I made coffees and we munched on biscuits and in between the giggles and cuddles I took a few snaps too.  My baby shoots are always so laid back.  I don’t really have an agenda of what photos to get as each baby is different and wants more or less cuddles, feeds, naps & nappy changes than the next!  So we just go with the flow and the results are always unique to each family.  Here’s what we captured the morning Freya came to town…

West Dean Gardens Engagement Photoshoot

An engagement shoot is a must for every couple!  They are so much fun, especially if your names are Ross & Hannah and you love to have a giggle together and don’t mind me tagging along to take some snaps….!  We certainly did just that when we went to West Dean Gardens for a mooch about and some photos last March.  I knew we’d get along well as I also photographed Ross’s brother’s wedding a while back and got on so well with all the family back then.  West Dean Gardens is beautiful too.  They are members there and it’s so pretty any time of year.  I especially love the greenhouses for photos and the rolling hills behind the gardens.  Anyway, needless to say their wedding at Southend Barns last year was fantastic fun too and you never know I might blog about that one day too!  In the meantime I did post some sneak peeks up on Facebook of their wedding which I’ll post a link to after all these gorgeous pics of the adorable Ross & Hannah when they were still Mr & Miss!

2017 was a blast! Let’s take a look…

I’ve been really bad at blogging again haven’t I!  I’ve been so busy, it’s been a whole year since I last posted but I do intend to make amends and today I’m starting with a best-of post from 2017!  I revisited many beautiful venues like Southend Barns and Upwaltham Barns and The Walled Gardens at Cowdray and Fitzleroi Barns and shot at some gorgeous new locations too; Brookfield Barns and Tournerbury Woods Estate to name but a few!  I met some amazing couples and got to share their big days with them and their families & friends and as always I was totally honoured to be a part of such a special occasion with everyone they hold so dear.  We had sun and rain, sunsets and starry nights and I made sure I captured it all.  To say I still love my job after 10 years in the industry I think is quite major.  If I had a boss I’d be getting some kind of loyalty bonus or something I’m sure (!!) but my motivation remains the looks on my couples’ faces when they see their photos for the first time, the emails of thanks and the shares and likes on social media with posts such as this.  It always means so much.  So thank you to my couples and all the families who booked me for a wedding or shoot but also thanks to everyone who follows and loves my work and spends a couple of minutes commenting and sharing.  I am so grateful x

Nicki Feltham West Sussex Wedding Photography best of 2016

Wow!  What a year 2016 was for me and of course all my couples!  It was so incredible from start to finish and I loved every minute!  For my couples it was the year they got to say I will, the year they got to promise to be together forever, grow old together and love each other through all the good times and bad.  Seeing them all so happy on their special days makes my heart skip a beat every time and fills me with such joy for them.  I absolutely LOVE being the one that gets to capture all the love and emotions a wedding day serves up.  My quest last year was the same as it has always been since I started my journey some 9 years ago… to provide not just visual memories of the day but heart-felt ones, so that when my brides and grooms look back at their photos they don’t just remember what they were wearing and how they decorated their venue but they remember how they felt.  I have to admit when a couple says they shed a tear looking at their photos I always do a little fist pump – I don’t really like making people cry honestly, but when it’s tears of joy that’s ok right?!

2016 was challenging at times, the summer was crazy busy and with 3 children I did have quite a few late nights up editing to keep to my 6-8 week turn around time… but I shot some 35 weddings, 1 I got booked for on the actual morning!  I travelled almost one a half thousand miles, I shot in bright sunshine, in rain that didn’t let up all day, gale force winds, in the winter at night… I captured smiles, tears, laughter – and lots more laughter!   Confetti-throwing, kissing, hugging, jumping for joy – and dancing … oh the dancing!  One of my favourite parts of the day is getting up there on the dance floor with everyone to capture the fun of the disco.  I have worked with so many wonderful suppliers and at so many gorgeous venues; Southend Barns, The Walled Gardens, Fitzleroi Barns and The Tithe Barn to name but a few.

I am truly honoured to be a part of every single one of my couples’ big days and I really do love what I do from the bottom of my heart.  I consider myself very lucky to still be in this business and be almost fully booked for this year and getting bookings for 2018 too.  So many more memories to capture, so much more love to be witness to and I can’t wait!

Thank you so much to my amazing couples for booking me and to all their wonderful friends and families for making me feel so welcome on what is such a special day for you all.  I tried to chose just a few photos to sum my year up but that was impossible so I think there’s about 150 – ooops!  Too many for an actual blog post so here’s a slideshow instead…

Enjoy….! 🙂

Photos by me! (Nicki Feltham Photography).

Music by Mumford & Sons <3 (Lover of the Light).

(p.s I did try to get Raffy & Willow to help me chose too but they were even more useless than me at picking!)

My Best of 2015…!

Wow what a year 2015 was! … I have no idea where to start with all that happened if I’m honest!  I don’t think I managed a single blog post on my website but I did manage to turn forty, shoot 30 weddings, care for a hubby who completely did his back in, continue to be a full time mum for my 3 gorgeous boys, kiss good bye to the last 2 of our 3 big dogs who were so old and poorly…. I also packed up our old house and unpacked all our stuff in our lovely new home, edited those 30 weddings (well 27, I still have 3 festive ones to finish!), hosted Christmas for 14 in our new house, took on a rescue dog from Romania as a friend to Raffy and still had just enough time to relax a bit on our 2 little holidays – one to Devon for a few nights in the summer and the other with dear friends to Somerset for Halloween.  It’s been a total whirlwind but an absolute blast and one of the best yet!  I’ve never been happier with my job and my work … so many happy couples, so many beautiful venues, stunning details and fun times with all their family and friends.  You guys really do make my job so much easier than you can imagine.  I love what I do and I just hope that shows in this snippet of 2015…

Happy Happy New Year everyone and here’s to an equally fabulous 2016 (but without the house move and hopefully with Steve now well and truly on the mend with his back)!  …. oh and maybe a few blog posts would be good too! 😉 p.s in true Nicki style I have not been able to whittle down the photos so just keep scrolling! 😀
