The Importance of a Wedding Album and your Photos

So you’ve had the most amazing day of your life… the months, if not years of planning are over, in a flash!  Your most treasured family members and friends all came together for a day to be there just for you and witness you both promise yourself to each other for the rest of your lives.  Wow… you don’t get more special than that.

You spent all that money, oops sorry, invested all that money (!) – you looked beautiful, handsome, gorgeous and soooo happy!  Your photographer captured the day perfectly and you want to show the world – you want to keep looking at the photos yourself.  You’ll want to show your children one day and your grand children too.  The best way?  In my opinion, humble as it may be, has to be in print – framed on your walls, or as a canvas or a collage – up there for you to admire day in and day out and also … in an album – professionally designed and laid out beautifully to tell the story of your day.  Perhaps with a funky cover to tie in with your colour scheme or theme.  You can take this with you when you visit friends and family and get it out on anniversaries – or when ever you fancy a reminisce.

After wedding fever has died away and you settle into married life you’ll have your personal memories of the day and your rings and the promise you made to each other.  You’ll hopefully have a stronger love for one another too but the only tangible thing you’ll have apart from the left over favours or your name tags and your worn suits/dress and shoes are… YOUR PHOTOS.  You can fire up the computer or switch the iPad on and flick through them there but better still you can have them in an album – grab it down from the shelf, cuddle up on the sofa and turn the pages together.  Smile… laugh… cry… remember…

I’m so passionate about your photos and capturing your day for you that I love designing albums for you too.  I recently ordered a load of new sample albums and had an order in for 4 couples’ albums at once so I took the opportunity to give the lovely array of colourful books a little shoot of their own!  You might even spot my own album in there with the bright red cover – my design but the photos were of course by the lovely Kelly of Lola Rose Photography.

If you’re unsure whether or not to have an album or purely cannot afford one I say save up and go for it!  It’ll be £450 or so well spent (if you go for a deluxe one) and you can order one with me up to a year after your wedding (sometimes longer if you let me know) – and were you aware the first anniversary gift is paper?  (Like diamonds are for your 60th?)  An album has to beat a roll of novelty toilet paper any day, surely?!!

A few from the Honeymoon…

So I just had a mini honeymoon!  For those who don’t know … my other half Steve and I got married just before Christmas!  We had the most amazing day with all our fabulous friends and family and even though we would have loved to have jetted off straight after for a couple of weeks on a desert island, instead we waited till the February half term so we could have my niece to house and dog sit, my lovely mum and her husband aka the Grandparents extraordinare to have the children (and they went swimming, to see the Lego Movie and the Zoo!!!) and my super kind Uncle & Auntie to loan us their most amazing penthouse apartment right on the seafront in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight.  Wow is all I can say, what a place!  We had 3 days of bliss – we didn’t really do much but it meant everything to us just to be together and have some time to ourselves.  We really did deserve it if I do say so myself!  Here are some snaps… guilt free photos of landscapes without the children moaning at us to hurry up!  Ventnor, Steephill Cove, The Needles & Yarmouth, plus a couple of arm stretched selfies of course!  Enjoy….

My Work & My Life (non wedding related!) ~ 2013 (around May onwards…)

My work and my life got very busy from around May onwards in 2013 so I didn’t blog much of what I was up to when I wasn’t shooting all the wonderful weddings I had, I just didn’t have the time.  So here are just a few of the many many hundreds – no thousands – of photos I took last year all rolled into one MA-HOOSIVE blog post.  Family portraits, lifestyle shoots, babies, pets, a launch party, a christening, a graduation, my kid’s birthdays, a one day holiday on the Isle of Wight, Goodwood Revival, a little camping trip, my snowman in the school nativity… what a year – I loved it!!  This year we plan to extend our 1 day holiday to at least 7, I’m pretty much fully booked with weddings but can’t wait to fill the days in between with more birthdays and day trips and family shoots and babies and whatever memories you need capturing or stories you need telling- bring it on … !

Duncton Mill Fishery Marquee Wedding ~ Hannah & Elliot

Duncton Mill Fishery is one of the most breath taking locations in West Sussex for a wedding I know of, the views and surroundings there are just stunning.  Hannah & Elliot fell in love with the place too and decided to hold their wedding reception there.  All they needed was a huge marquee some tables and chairs and beautiful decor, a band, a caterer, a bar, some guests….. you know….. not much…. the usual!!  😉  But their wedding was an amazing day from start to finish and everything they planned, all the things they organised (and there’s a lot to do to hold a party in a big open field by a lake) came together perfectly on the day.  Even the weather was on their side… I don’t think they could have asked for more.

Hannah got ready that morning at her parents house, she even had a surprise call from Wave FM – that provided a few giggles & tears!  She looked so beautiful in her Alfred Angelo dress and I loved how her hair was gathered and pinned and plaited and twisted round in the most gorgeous up-do ever!  The bouquets & flowers were put together beautifully by Lou of Daisies in Middleton-on-Sea – I love sunflowers too!

Elliot and the boys looked fantastic in their smart/casual blue suits and blue gingham dickie bows.  I loved their deck shoes too – just added to the beachy theme they went for in the marquee for the reception.  They were married in Pagham church – the light in there is always so beautiful… we didn’t take too many snaps outside though as it was covered top to bottom and side to side in scaffolding for some restoration work!  Instead I just mixed and mingled in capturing the natural shots, the candid moments, the giggles and cuddles and smiles on their loved ones faces seeing them married.  Such a joy…

Once at Duncton Mill Fishery we wondered off for a few couples portraits around the lakes and under the trees – it was hot – so were the happy couple!!!  Then we did a few group photos oh and the mad confetti bombs (!!) then it was back to me capturing the day as it happened – blending into the crowd and making sure Hannah & Elliot would be able to relive their day again and again through my eyes.

So here it is… Hannah & Elliot’s gorgeous wedding day by me  🙂 … enjoy!

Beautiful Matara Centre Wedding ~ Emily & Matt

You’re about to be hit by the most beautiful Matara Centre wedding ever – OK so maybe it’s the only Matara Centre wedding I’ve been to (so far!) but I think it was the most beautiful!!  It has to be… it was just the most magical day ever from start to finish and Emily & Matt are such a beautiful couple – what you see on the outside is multiplied at least 100 fold on the inside.  One of the kindest, sweetest & most gorgeous couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet…  They found me online and booked me after a quick chat on Skype where we hit if off immediately – they were so warm and friendly, my kind of people!  They came down to meet me and have a pre wedding shoot at my local beach – you can see that here, then I travelled west to the Cotswold with my friend Irina from Pure You Photography (as back up!) to photograph their big day back in August 2013.

I’m not going to waffle on too much as I’ve gone over board with the photos but I think they speak for themselves… and if you want to find out more about their day it was Blogged over on Love My Dress a few months ago where Emily & Matt tell all about their amazing ideas and their suppliers…

Enjoy…
