Dog Photo Shoot on the Beach ~ Meet the fabulous Pez!

Last week I got together with an old friend and the fabulous Pez for a dog photo shoot on the beach.  We chose West Wittering Beach as a back drop as it’s just so beautiful there.  We were extremely lucky with the weather too – such a bright sunny day, I’d almost forgotten what the warmth of the sun felt like and it definitely helps to have a bit for the photos!  Stef and I go back a long way, it’s always great to catch up, she’s been so supportive of my work – always recommending me – so it was an absolute pleasure to photograph Pez for her.  The bond between them is so special, he’s a real mummy’s boy!!  I admire Stef for so many reasons – she used to work for Battersea Dog’s Home and has done a lot of charity work for dog rescue, as well as sky diving for guinea pig rescue!  Pez himself came from Bearded Collie rescue back in 2002.  She’s a total animal lover – I remember when we were little when we weren’t playing star wars games (!) we’d play various animal games, chat about the dogs we’d have one day and visit her guinea pigs that had the run of the green house in her garden!

For now here’s some of my favourite pics of dear old Pez from the other day – he’s getting on a bit now like my 3 dogs and it breaks my heart to know our beloved pets won’t always be around with us… but the memories and the photos will.  I hope Stef will enjoy and treasure these photos for years to come and that Pez doesn’t go anywhere for a long while yet anyway!!  Love him ❤ ❤

If you’ve got a gorgeous dog or any sort of pet who you’d rather like a nice photo or two of then please give me a shout – I’d love to meet them and take some snaps!

Twin Newborn Photo Shoot ~ Welcome to the World little ones…

I was so pleased to be asked to do a twin newborn photo shoot for Lucie & Oli’s brand new bundles of joy just over a week ago.  Lucie and I discussed the type of photos she was after and my lovely friend Sveta made some gorgeous little hats, (you can have a look at her Etsy shop HERE) – we penciled in a date then I sat back to wait excitedly for news of their safe arrival.  I continued to plan a few things for the shoot and I bought in some new props that will come in handy for future newborn sessions too!  Of course when the day came most of our ideas went out the window – the babies are always in charge on these shoots!  We managed a couple of shots with their big brother, but fabulous as he is, he wasn’t over fussed about having a photo taken with his new brother and sister or even with mum & dad!  When you’re 2 years old there are so many more important things in life to be getting on with!  So we opted for some fun natural shots of him playing in the garden instead and as many sleepy shots of the twins together as we could get before one or the other woke up (at different times!) for cuddles or feeds…  I loved meeting Lucie & Oli and their children, they really are the most adorable little family – well not such a little family now – it’s hard to imagine how 3 becomes 5 over night!  Such a gorgeous family – thank you for having me round in those precious first days!  I can’t wait to see you all again in a year or so for a “toddling along” photo shoot in the countryside somewhere…

If you’re having a baby or know someone who is expecting and who’d like a newborn photo shoot please give me a call.  Thanks x

Pre Wedding Shoot on the Beach & Bognor Regis Pier… introducing James & Kylie ❤

James & Kylie are such a fun couple and their pre wedding shoot on the beach and Bognor Regis pier was a right giggle – think chip fights and a pretend tea party in a fishing boat!

I’m so pleased I rearranged my busy social life (if only!) for them… it was only a few weeks ago I had booked up to go to Goodwood Revival as a treat on the last Saturday I had left in September… then I got an email from James & Kylie!!  Could I photograph their DIY wedding at Holycombe Steam park on the same date? …  erm … YES please!!  So a quick email back to Goodwood to get swapped to the Sunday and hey presto I was available.  Luckily they did book and last weekend we met on the beach for some pre wedding fun and a save the date photo – that I can’t share till they’ve sent cards out to their friends & family but I’d like to share it eventually as they used a fab new wooden sign I had custom-made.

Here are some of my favourite shots – can’t wait for their big day in September, I’ve a feeling it’s going to be a very fun, happy day!

You don’t have to be getting married to have a couple’s loved up session – on the beach, the countryside or where-ever.  Then you can have some shots that aren’t taken on the iPhone at arms length with the camera pointing back down towards yourselves  😉

Doily Days Loves Weddings Magazine Launch Party ~ Brighton Music Hall

I had a fabulous time yesterday evening at the Brighton Music Hall meeting lots of new folk, catching up with a few industry peeps and taking a few snaps for Helen of Doily Days Vintage Weddings & Events.  Helen has recently put together a great little magazine called Doily Days Loves Weddings and I think I was one of the first to grab a little advert in it – I knew it was going to be a must-have read and gorgeous glossary for brides and I couldn’t wait to see the finished product.  It certainly didn’t disappoint and its popularity is already spreading fast… as I was visiting a few bridal shops myself today in Chichester for my own wedding later this year I saw some copies of the mag taking pride of place on the main desk in Everything but the Girl bridal boutique!

I want to make sure I mention everyone and I really hope I do because there’s a long list but the launch party was so much fun and everything looked / tasted / smelt so wonderful thanks to the following wonderful guys & gals:

Helen from Doily Days of course!

Kelly from Belle’s Events & Sussex Love Bug.

Tattoos, signs and lovely happy smiley faces supplied by Doris Loves.

The amazing cakes were by Sylvias Kitchen, Flutterby Bakery and Camilles Cake Boutique.

The fabulous singers were Johnny Zero and later Hannah Summers and her vintage trio is Three Penny Piece.

The great finger print tree was provided by Big Furry cat.

The fun photo-booth was run by Lynda Kelly (Butterfly Portraits).

Vintage hair and make up was Fine to Fabulous and Tea & trim.

Nails and massage and anything and everything for you to feel totally relaxed and wonderful was by Perfect Pamper.

Gorgeous fragrant flowers by Viva Verde.

Those colourful pom poms were Pom Pom studio.

Handmade Weddings provided the paper bags for the goody bags.

and last but by no means least, keeping us all grooving with vintage vibes was DJ Tunes.

and now for some pics!!

If you’d like some copies of the magazine to distribute or you’d like to get your hands on a copy for yourself then please get in touch with Helen (helen@doilydays.co.uk) who will be able to tell you how or where you can get some or one… !!

Pet Photo Shoot ~ Animal Photography ~ Kelli & her pack…

It’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of a pet photo shoot and considering it all started with animal photography for me I was really looking forward to it! Kelli and I have been friends for a few years now having both been involved with rescuing hounds and raising money to help various rescue societies & organisations.  Kelli is a lot more dedicated than me it has to be said – she’s a bit of a rescue angel really and she could no doubt still give you a list of all the dogs she’s found homes for over the years!  She doesn’t forget a single one…  I’ve only got my 3 to remember!  She came down to West Wittering for a shoot on the beach the other day with her sister and her dogs and their children too.  It was absolutely freezing but that didn’t stop the hounds from racing about and having fun – OK maybe all except poor Pasha who after a bit of running around found it a bit chilly for her royal “salukiness” at times!  🙂

Here are some of my favourites from the shoot…

… and just in case you think no no no I couldn’t let my hounds run around like that on the beach (some rescue sighthounds do have a bit of a tendency to want to chase small furry dogs in the distance, hence the muzzles – better be safe than sorry!) … fear not – some of these photos have been edited to remove the leads!  Here’s an example to show you what I mean…

Please get in touch if you’d like a pet photo shoot – on the beach, in the countryside, where ever you’d like – I’d be more than happy to oblige!
