When Lizzie and Chris booked me for their Wakehurst Place wedding back in May I honestly couldn’t wait to visit the gardens to see what backdrops we had to play with. I had already met the gorgeous couple for a shoot Lizzie booked a couple of years ago on Chris’s birthday! We hit it off straight away down at West Wittering beach and I was chuffed to bits when Chris proposed to Lizzie and they asked me to be the photographer for their wedding too. Wakehurst Place is absolutely stunning – so many gorgeous places for photos! We got lucky with the weather too (considering it was snowing and freezing cold when I visited the gardens, I think we were all a little relieved!) The house that is usually open to the public is closed off when they hold weddings there and it’s such a beautiful place for a reception party. If you look carefully in the photo by the main door there’s even an E & a C engraved in the stonework – it was fate they should have their wedding there! I should mention before the reception at Wakehurst they tied the knot in St Peter’s church down the road from where Lizzie grew up in Ardingly followed by Pimms & cupcakes in the Vicarage garden. They had not one but two gorgeous camper vans as transport for the wedding party and a Beetle for themselves. We were VW’d out to the max!
I had a wonderful time with Lizzie & Chris and their fantastic friends & family – what an amazing crowd! I even did a shoot for one of Lizzie’s bridesmaid’s & her partner and doggy just the other day (hey there Lucy & Sean!) I love all the pretty details at a wedding, it goes without saying (!!) but for me it’s always the people that really make it – the atmosphere and the love in the room… and there was plenty of that to go around on Lizzie & Chris’s big day!
Here are some of my favourite photos …
If you’re getting hitched in 2014 please be in touch soon as I’m only taking a limited amount of bookings next year… but I’d still love to hear from you! 🙂
Wow, what a great fun wedding! I’m a bit of a sucker for a VW Camper too ;).
