Izzy & Jason ~ Pre Wedding Shoot ~ Denmans Gardens

I got together with Izzy & Jason last weekend for a look around the newly built grandstand at Fontwell Park racecourse where they are getting married later this year.  Wow!  What a building, I was getting all excited at the prospect of a wedding there actually on raceday!  I’ll be following them around as they place their bets, drink champagne and thoroughly enjoy themselves with their guests – I really cannot wait!   After the tour we went on just down the road to Denmans Gardens for their pre wedding shoot, look away now if you think you might be going to their wedding as Izzy & Jason plan on using one of the photos on their invitations!!  It was freeeezing cold but we had such a giggle, they are great fun to be with and a very relaxed couple to photograph (Jason had loads of ace ideas too) – all of which makes for a very happy photographer!  (Don’t worry if you’re not relaxed with the camera though and need all the inspiration, that’s my job to help you feel more at ease and come up with ideas – failing that I’ll take you both down the pub for a pint or two of Dutch courage before hand!)

Here are some of my favourite photos…

Nikki & Matt re-tie the knot! ~ Valentine’s Wedding Blessing, St Thomas A Becket Church, Pagham, West Sussex

Nikki & Matt are so in love – it’s clear to see!  They have been married for 7 years, their wedding was a quiet intimate affair but Nikki has always dreamt of THE dress, walking down THAT aisle and the whole fairy tale that surrounds the wedding of her dreams…  so what an amazing and romantic way to reaffirm their love to one another on their anniversary than having a gorgeous Valentine’s Wedding Blessing by candlelight!  It meant so much to them to be able to share this with all their favourite friends and family members including of course their gorgeous twin girls as 2 of their bridesmaids and Nikki’s handsome son as best man (I reckon he’s going to break a few hearts!).  I was so chuffed to be asked to photograph this event for them, to capture their emotions and get some great family portraits.  We did have plans for a fab retro photo shoot of the happy couple down at the Picturedrome in Bognor but someone put some major scaffolding up!  So I scouted about for a new shoot venue and the Train Station was looking like a strong contender but the wind & rain on the day were even stronger and Nikki really didn’t want to get soaked walking down there.  So we stuck to photos in the beautiful church of St Thomas A Becket in Pagham instead and I am so pleased for them at how well they turned out, with such a photogenic family and gorgeous backdrop it wasn’t exactly hard!  What a dress!!, and an amazing evening …

A RED dress, now we’re talking!

Poor Nikki was attacked by the elements on the short walk to the front door of the church but it makes me laugh how composed she was seconds later walking down the aisle – well she looked very serene even if butterflies were racing round!

Their Wedding Blessing was a truely beautiful service conducted by the very lovely Reverend Keith Smith …

Holidays on the Isle of Wight ~ How we survived half term!

My mum and her husband moved to the Isle of Wight a year and a half ago and due to one thing or another we’ve not been able to make it over all together (technically we still haven’t as poor Steve had to work, well maybe not so poor Steve as he had plenty of peace and quiet!).  Summers are always tricky for me with weddings and having babies!  Then I always have to find someone to look after the dogs as my mum has two gorgeous cats who my lot wouldn’t get along with too well!  But finally this half term I packed our bags and booked a ticket and off we went on the ferry.  Typically the weather was awful – it rained pretty much every day and was very foggy and overcast but we made the most of it and found two new soft play centres for wet day play!  It was so nice (that’s an understatement, it was an absolute utter joy and luxury!!) to have delicious meals cooked for us and have a hand with the boys and just spend some quality time with my mum.  I also got to see my dear Grandma who’ll be 93 this year.  She lives with them now and is making the most of adjusting to a new life on the Island – she’s proving very popular with the local Bridge club!  When the boys are there they love mucking about down on the beach – we live right on the coast here but we don’t go down there that often as there always seems to be so much else to do.  (Note to self, must make more effort to get down the beach this year…)   Hope all you other hard working mums out there are surviving half term!

You might not want me to come on holiday with you (although if it’s somewhere nice I’d be happy to!) but if you’d like a family shoot then please get in touch via email – nickifeltham@btinternet.com or phone 01243 587517.

I have my Pretty Bella – what about my Edward?!

OK so what am I on about?  A new camera bag of course!  In an attempt for any prospective clients to get to know “me” a bit better I’m having a go at writing some personal blog entries.  I can’t promise they will be funny and witty or even remotely interesting but at least you get a little insight into my life as you’re letting me into yours to capture your weddings, babies, families etc…!  If no one else enjoys these posts at least my lovely Grandma on the Isle of Wight will! 🙂

So I needed a litte cheer-me-up and as I’m on a diet what else is a girl to do but buy a new bag or some shoes?!  Only thing is, I don’t really do handbags (my lip-balm and purse squeeze into Seth’s changing bag that comes everywhere with me!) and I just bought myself a new pair of shoes in the sales so a camera bag it was!

When I was looking I originally wanted a shootsac but couldn’t stretch to one at the moment so I searched for Crumpler on ebay and this beauty came up!

Those who know me already will know I LOVE green (on accessories and clothes for the boys, I don’t wear much green myself, maybe the odd scarf!)… and I am also a bit of a Twilight Fan so the name of the bag being Pretty Bella was very appealing!  (Just need my Edward Cullen now…!)  It also fits the majority of my favourite gear in its well protected pockets; my camera, 4 different lenses, my flash, spare battery and memory cards.  No room for my zoom lens sadly but that’s soooo heavy anyway I will keep that in my mahooosive rucksack for when I need it!

So was everyone else in my family as impressed with my new purchase as me?  Nah… Seth was more interested in the lens cap whilst I took the photo!

Hope you have a lovely weekend – got a wedding blessing on Sunday evening so please all cross your fingers for some dry weather as we’ve got plans for some fab photos afterwards!

Baby Polly and her big Brother ~ West Sussex Newborn Photography ~ Baby & Toddler Photographer Chichester

Polly’s mum Bev & I go back years (and years!) and when she had her first baby back in 2008 I was thrilled & excited to capture as much as I could of Edward’s first year every time we met up.   Now I’m a mum of 3 and Bev is a mum of 2 it’s a bit of an expedition to meet up and taking photos isn’t always possible (my camera isn’t exactly very compact!) so they have asked me to do it as “proper work” this time.  So not only do I get to see one of my bestest friends on my own every now and then, I also get to photograph and cuddle Polly and it’s great!  Here are some of my favourites just days after she was born then again at a few weeks old…
