The Lythe Hill Hotel Winter Wedding ~ Holly & Richard ~ Surrey Wedding Photographer

The Lythe Hill Hotel is perfect for winter weddings and that’s just what Holly & Richard’s wedding day last November was…. perfect!  (and quite wintry too…!)  Like me they left the nuptials till after they’d had children and also like me they have 3 gorgeous little ones.  So their day was very much centred around everyone having fun, there being plenty to do for the children and it just being a very relaxed & laid back day.  Holly looked so beautiful and radiant and Richard didn’t scrub up too bad either!  The pair of them didn’t stop smiling all day!  Holly made their cake herself and her mum helped her decorate it, her dad made the wishing well for cards to be dropped in.  They had a fantastic hog roast & jacket potato buffet meal with delicious puds and a sweetie table for afterwards!  A face painting lady turned up in the evening to keep the kids (and some grown ups!) entertained and for music a friend played guitar and sang some of their favourite songs – really good he was too.  I am so chuffed they decided to brave the elements with me for a couple of snaps of just the two of them out in the grounds of the Lythe Hill Hotel but it was nice to get back in the warm afterwards!  And as it was tipping it down when we wanted to do confetti in the day time, it ended up being the first night time confetti shot I’ve ever done but Richard’s mum had spent ages making sure there was enough for everyone to throw so we couldn’t not do the shot… wouldn’t have wanted to clear up after us mind you!

Thanks so much Holly & Richard for choosing me to capture it all for you… here’s to many many happy years together and in your new venture in the next few weeks too!

Maidens Barn Wedding ~ Lauren & Chris said they do! ~ Essex Wedding Photography

Lauren & Chris booked me for their Maidens Barn wedding in Essex after seeing their friends Seren & James’ wedding photos on Facebook from a couple of years ago.  They loved the natural candid shots and relaxed couples portraits and came down to meet me one weekend for a blustery pre wedding shoot on Brighton beach so we could get to know each other a bit better.  We had such a giggle and I knew their day would be fab and we’d get along just fine.  They are really keen travellers and went for an American twist to the sweetie table, and their reception tables all had the names of places they had been.  I loved the guest book idea – they had post cards to write on and pop in an old vintage suitcase, bet they loved reading all those messages after the big day.

Lauren looked so beautiful in her Maggie Sottero dress and I loved the calla lily bouquet and button holes too.  The boys didn’t scrub up too bad in their suits with burgundy red cravats and pocket hankies.  Their flower girls were soo cute in their little white dresses and Lauren’s bridesmaids looked gorgeous in their to the floor, sleeveless red dresses too.

Essex is a long old drive but honestly I don’t mind one bit when I’m made to feel as welcome as I was with Lauren & Chris and their families and friends.  HUGE congratulations to you both and thank you again for booking me to capture it all for you… here’s their wedding day through my eyes!

Hollycombe Steam Fair Wedding ~ Kylie & James’ big day on the big wheel!

When Kylie and James first got in contact with me and told me all about their Hollycombe Steam Fair wedding plans I was so excited I think I even posted about it on my Facebook page before they’d even confirmed!  Luckily (for me!) they did and I couldn’t have been happier.  They found my website by googling the steam fair and came across a pre wedding shoot I’d done at Hollycombe with Dan and Helen a couple of years ago.  They loved the mix of fun and romance and thought I’d fit in perfectly with their crowd on the day – which I think I did, well I thought they were great anyway!  Such a fun group of friends and loving families.  Kylie and James had a quick marriage ceremony in the morning at Petersfield Register Office with just their parents there as witnesses, but for them that was just for the bit of legal documentation – their blessing at Hollycombe later that day with everyone they loved around them was the important bit, the actual giving and receiving of rings and swapping of vows and it really was a beautiful service – I got quite tearful as I hid behind my camera!

Between the two ceremonies we headed to Kylie’s mum’s house for the getting ready shots with her sisters who were also her bridesmaids.  We had such a giggle and I absolutely loved Kylie’s something blue…. her shoes!  A girl after my own heart with a quirky bit of foot wear  🙂

Kylie and James were not so lucky with the weather but nothing an umbrella and a pair of wellie boots couldn’t sort out – Hollycombe is notoriously muddy when it rains but everyone’s spirits and the fairground steam was still high on the day!  The Hollycombe by night fair ground bit was probably my favourite part.  All the lights and the noise and everyone having a great time.  What a way to end your wedding day up on the big wheel and whizzing round on the carousel and swing seat (especially after a drink or two) eeeek!  There’s so much else to mention, the bring a bottle of home made plonk, the delicious hog roast, their friend who played guitar and sang their first dance song (then went on to do a fabulous little gig for everyone afterwards), the gorgeous flowers, the amazing cake and have I mentioned the blue shoes?…

It’s probably best to skip straight to the photos and as always let them tell the story of Kylie & Jame’s big day… enjoy!

Louise & Will’s Beautiful Afternoon Tea Wedding at Hell Fyre Barn, Sharpenhyrst Farm

An afternoon tea wedding with lots of little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, an abundance of macaroons, oodles of pots of tea, handfuls of strawberries with big dollops of cream and a dozen different types of delicious mini cakes?  Go on then, yes please!!!  That’s just what the gorgeous Louise and Will planned for their big day last September and it really was perfect!  After the lovely service up the road in Thakeham church (sadly their local Itchingfield church was covered in scaffolding so they had a last minute change of plans!), everyone headed back to the family home for the glorious reception in Louise’s parents garden and Barn – Hell Fyre – for the most sumptuous afternoon tea I’ve ever seen.  So far their barn has only been used for family and friends’ weddings and special occasions but please contact the owners by email at louise.prince@prince.org.uk if you think you too would enjoy an afternoon tea wedding reception here (or any type of wedding for that matter!) as Louise’s parents are in the throes of getting planning permission for commercial weddings with the actual ceremony license part in hand too.  How exciting!  The barn has such gorgeous grounds too and room for a marquee if you like and a big kitchen area for your caterers…

Louise got ready that morning in the family home with her beautiful bridesmaids and the lovely Wedding Hair by Leanne came to do the hair and Emma Hooley the make-up.  The bridesmaids and flower girl’s dresses were all so fantastically made by Louise’s mum (also called Louise) but the actual wedding gown Louise wore belonged to her dear grandma and was worn by her at her own wedding a few decades prior!  It fitted Louise like a glove and with no alterations, it really could have been made for her… – like grand mother, like grand daughter!

They had a wonderful string quartet playing at the church and for part of the reception – such a joy to listen to and very fitting with the feel of the day – The Bossard Quartet.  The caterers who made the hundreds of little sandwiches and pulled it all together were the fabulous Heather Lynn Catering of Slinfold tel: 07977 465 216 and the flowers were beautifully arranged and supplied by Stems of Southwater.

I loved all the little touches at their wedding, they really had thought of everything – Will’s mum made the cake, friends had made hilarious badges with the happy couple on and the page boy was awarded chocolate medals to match Will’s real ones!  So sweet…

Anyway, it’s about time we saw the photos from this super wedding day… there are lots, far too many but I make no apologies!  Hope you enjoy…!

Pre Wedding Shoot – Should you?? {Kym & Alex and Anouska & James did!}

The answer to whether or not you should book a pre wedding shoot with me or your chosen photographer is of course entirely up to you!  I love them though, it’s a great chance for me to get to know you both before the big day.  We can have a giggle, you can learn how not to squish noses when you kiss and get all that uncomfortable “this is my best side” business out of the way!  It’s not that uncomfortable anyway, we’re just stating facts… everyone has a best side!  I love a good old selfie – who doesn’t? – arms stretched out, camera up in the air, fab duck face or nice big double chin…  but really when it comes to photos of you with your loved one you’ll be (hopefully pleasantly) surprised at how much you will enjoy and cherish the photos of the two of you before your wedding.  You’ll feel all loved up by the end of it as well – there’s lots of cuddling and canoodling to be had on a pre wed shoot  🙂

In the last couple of weeks I’ve had the pleasure of photographing both Kym & Alex and Anouska & James – two absolutely gorgeous couples who’ll be getting married later this year.  Anouska & James in just a few weeks actually!

For Kym & Alex we visited Winnie the Pooh’s stomping ground in Ashdown forest, the first place they went on a date together.  How sweet!!  We even got to see Eeyore and Piglet’s houses!  Alex won pooh sticks – again!  But secretly I think Kym might have let him win – right Kym?!  Here are some of my favourite snaps from the day….

Then just the other day Anouska and James (both actors from London) came down to visit me and we went to West Dean Gardens.  Now they didn’t really need any practise in front of the camera but they still found it worth while and really enjoyed themselves.  It was so lovely to meet them both too and we even had some sunshine!  Such a lovely afternoon…
